We are only able to help the Island’s community thanks to support from people generously giving their time or money to support the work of Street and School Pastors on the Isle of Wight. There are three key ways you can get involved:
1. Volunteer
Our Street and School Pastors are all volunteers who commit to regular patrols to serve their local community. Street Pastors patrol once a month, while School Pastors have slightly shorter, weekly patrols during term-time only. Street and School Pastors undergo extensive training before starting and receive periodic refresher training. Both roles are extremely rewarding, providing a real chance to make a positive difference in people’s lives. There is a recruitment process, as the role isn’t for everyone, and we want to make sure all our volunteers are suited to the role. If you are interested in volunteering, please get in contact and we’d be delighted to talk to you about getting involved. You don’t have to be certain at this stage, we’re happy for you to explore whether volunteering with us is right for you without any commitment at this stage.
2. Pray
We’re also firm believers in the power of prayer and hope you can join us in praying for our volunteers and the people they help. Whether as part of your church service or at home we’d welcome your prayer support. We also have a dedicated group of volunteer Prayer Pastors. They meet together while our patrols are out and pray for the team. They receive updates through the patrol and often provide practical support as well. They are an integral part of our volunteer team and we’re always looking for suitable people to volunteer as Prayer pastors too, so please get in contact if you are interested.
3. Give
We rely on the generous financial support of many individuals and local businesses across the Island to keep Isle of Wight Street Pastors running. We’re grateful for every donation, large or small which sustains our work training, equipping and supporting our volunteers, and working with various organisations to ensure our work is effective. Those who can commit to giving each month are particularly appreciated by us, as knowing that we have a regular income helps as plan for the future more effectively. You can become a regular giver online here, or by getting in touch we can send you paper forms to sign up. You can donate online, or in various other ways, there are more details on our online donations page.
